Can Man live without God lecture - by Ravi Zacharias

From the 'Can Man live without God lecture' by Ravi Zacharias at the National University of Singapore.

The four questions every man/woman must answer in life according to RZ:
1. Origin- why am I here?
2. Meaning- what brings me meaning?
3. Morality- what's right and wrong?
4. Destiny- what happens to a human being when he/she dies?

So when men are called by grace

...so when men are called by grace, and converted, they come out of a country, this world, which is a land of sin and iniquity, of great folly and ignorance, of darkness, and of the shadow of death; a desert, a mere wilderness; a country where Satan reigns, full of wicked and ungodly men; and which is the land of their nativity, as to their first birth: and they may be said to come out of it, not in a natural and civil sense, but in a spiritual one; and it is the character of a converted man, or one that is come out of the world, and is separated from it, to be unmindful of it; not so as not to consider from whence he came out, as owing to rich grace; nor so as not to lament the iniquities of it; nor so as not to pray for the conversion of the inhabitants of it; but he is unmindful of it, so as to be desirous of the company of the men of it, or to have the affections set upon it, and the heart tickled with the pleasures of it, or so as to desire to return to it, for which there is a great deal of reason: for this country is not worth minding; and there is much in it to set a gracious mind against it; a good man has better things to mind; and it is below, and unworthy of a Christian, to mind the world; and besides, worldly mindedness is attended with bad consequences. Moreover, though the saints have opportunities of returning, yet they do not; they are near it, and the country they are seeking is afar off: many things in it are alluring and ensnaring; a corrupt and deceitful heart often lingers after them, and Satan is not wanting to tempt unto, and by them. And yet they do not return; some that bear the name of Christians, but are not truly such, may wholly return, and never come back more; and true believers may strangely go back again in some instances; but they shall not return finally and totally: for they are held and drawn with the cords of love; they are in the hands of Christ, and are secured in the covenant of grace; they are returned to Christ, in the effectual calling, who will keep them; they are of the household of God, and shall be no more foreigners; should they return in such sense, they would be condemned with the world, which cannot be.~John Gill on Hebrews 11:15

The Leading of the Holy Spirit in Fighting Sin- Benjamin B. Warfield

Please look below for a link to the full and complete original article of this B.B Warfield work available online.

There is certainly abundant reason why we should seek to learn what the Scriptures mean by "spiritual leading." There are few subjects so intimately related to the Christian life, of which Christians appear to have formed, in general, conceptions so inadequate, where they are not even positively erroneous. The sober-minded seem often to look upon it as a mystery into which it would be well not to inquire too closely. And we can scarcely expect those who are not gifted with sobriety to guide us in such a matter into the pure truth of God.
…..
It is surely enough, however, to recall us to a careful searching of Scripture in order to learn what it is to be led by the Spirit of God, simply to read the solemn words of our text: "As many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God." If the case be so, surely it behooves all who would fain believe themselves to be God's children to know what the leading of the Spirit is.
….
It is not the reward of special spiritual attainment; it is the condition of all spiritual attainment. In its absence, we should remain hopelessly the children of the devil; by its presence alone are we constituted the children of God. It is only because of the Spirit of God shed abroad in our hearts that we are able to cry, "Abba, Father" (Rom. 8:15).
…..
The regenerated soul will never abide the remnants of sin that vex his members, but will have no rest until he eradicates them to the last shred. But these victories of our nobler selves—natural or gracious—over what is unworthy within us, do not so much constitute the essence of spiritual leading as they are to be counted among its fruits. Spiritual leading itself is not a leading of ourselves by ourselves, but a leading of us by the Holy Ghost.

Evidence for/against God Debate: William Lane Craig vs Dr. Peter Atkins

The Faith and Science Lecture Forum in April 1998 hosted a debate between Christian philosopher William Lane Craig and Oxford University’s Peter Atkins, a professor of chemistry and an outspoken atheist. The moderator was William F. Buckley.

The debate, “What Is the Evidence for/against the Existence of God,” drew an overflow crowd at The Carter Center in Atlanta and was broadcast live to 10,000 people in universities and colleges in the US

- sited from RZIM

You can find this video available on DVD at William Craig's website Reasonablefaith.org and RZIM.ORG (the Ravi Zacharias International ministries website), as well as many other Chrisitian apologetics media. You will also find a link to the RZIM website in my links section.

I was lucky enough to find the entire video freely available online but will not hesitate to support and acquire more media for myself in the near future.

I thought the debate was great. I laughed at several parts because Mr. Atkins had no leg to stand on much of the time, and when it came to the story of Jesus he (like most athiests) prefered to duck and weave. Ironically the more I have explored the athiestic position the more I'm convinced that it takes real faith (or at least hatred) to be an athiest.

Athiest's don't like the idea of God much of the time because they dislike the Bibles interpretation of beginnings, but will never admit to the fact that science has not and CAN NOT explain many important aspects of life including the spirit world and the after life (among many other things). There is so much evidence apparent in science, history, and todays world events that blind faith simply can't be an excuse for an athiest not to become a believer. Just seek God and he will do the rest, I am proof of that.

The hidenness of God- Ravi Zacharias

I have battled the problem of the hidenness of God a few times in my walk, but interestingly enough everytime I have humbly and deserately called on God to show himself to me in a tangible way, he has. Ravi's recommendation at the end of the video (of praying for God's intervention in your life) is something I can relate to.

Witnessing to a Jehovahs witness

This is an older video that I stumbled on when going through my youtube favorites, I just had to put up on my blog. Blair Wingo (great saved poet) from P4CM is the one giving you the truth! lol. I run by a lot of Jehovah's witnesses where I work but as of yet have never had a serious discussion with them about their beliefs. But I will one of these days, after I gather a little more information that can be used for the sake of argument and clarity. For example I would love to be able to point out past prophecies that came out of the jehovahs witness camp that have never come to pass, then take them to the deuteronomy verse Blair spoke on.

Everything would have to be done in love and not losing sight of the truth in G-d. Anyway it's a great video and worth the post.

Mere Chrsitianity by C.S. Lewis

One of the most impactful books I have ever read on why Christians believe what they believe. I would suggest every christian read this book. Whether new in the faith or not, and especially those who don't know Christ but are curious. Its intelligent, its clear, it gives the non-beliver reason to believe. Mere Chrisitianity written by C.S. Lewis is a must read.

You can also 'listen' to the book on youtube FOR FREE!!! Listen to the first two parts below.
