To all you young london gangsters...

I don't wanna sound like a ignorant american, but does england even have any ghettoes? If not does it at least have communities where a lot of poor people live in parts of london? I just watched the 'kidulthood' movie. I have wanted to watch it for some time but never had the chance. After watching the movie and reading some of the hilarious responses on the youtube page (yeah I watched it on youtube, can't find the movie at the local blockbuster), I had to comment myself, so here goes. Londoners can not FUCK with New yorkers or any other american cities toughest hoods. I'm not going to get into it too much, but the fact is our streets are more violent because our country is more corrupt. The idea that teens are carrying glocks and baseball bats just so they can cause trouble and brag that they run with a rough clique is the dumbest shit I've ever heard. So I shake my head to you 16 year old black kids who come fom good homes but want to imitate the lifestyle you see on TV, grow the fuck up.

I'm no "London gangster" lol, just a Londoner, and you make a fair point. I've seen Kidulthood too by the way - also on youtube. But believe me London, Manchester, Liverpool etc. are no better or worse than New York, San Francisco or L.A. . Maybe Detroit's in a whole other league, but yeah... trust me, London at least isn't exactly all posh people and tea like a lot of Americans seem to think it is. For example, the whole of East London is run by organised crime families from places like Turkey and Greece, we've got the Triads, Pikeys, Eurasian Mafia, loads of Indian/Asian gangs, Viatnamese gangs, Yardies, the R.A., the Cockney Mobs, and around 500 different Chav gangs. We've now even got the Cosa Nostra (Mafia) coming through the Channel. So don't think you're hard done-by, we live in a city run by gangs - Google it or something! So next time you're gonna make a comment, come and see for yourself first. Oh and while I think of it, we do have ghettos - quite a lot actually and I'm not sure about other cities, but London has Chinatown, Little Venice, and a very large middle-eastern community.

I live in south london. And I agree with the american when he says London is nowhere near as bad as New York, which I'm proud of. But the way you two were expressing your views it seems that your trying to out do each other with which city is worst. And kidulthood depicted what urban london was about quite accurately...there were no low riders, no bloods and crips and no shoot outs over drugs (no that ti doesnt happen). It was about misguided youths not hardened criminals.

And please dont compete for the rights of the most ghetto area and glorify coming from a rough area.
Because thats a competetion I'm glad London wont win.

the average place in london has 3 times the crime rates as anywhere in new york .. while places like hackney or peckham have 11 times more

Im from lancaster in a small city in England, it might not be a big city but even here we've had a few muders, stabbings, beat ups. its not just the USA that has violence. my mate was put in hospital last year for 3 weeks.

im not glorifying it, but to all the americans who brag about new yorks crime....google it compared to london, londons violent crime rate is alot higher, and in comparison to size, the uk is alot worse than the usa...either way i dont personally give a shit about all that crap, im from london and if i could actually say london was a safe decent place id be happy but it aint, its a shithole, i live in SE london, come an see the dickhead little rat gangs that stab each other over postcode 'turf' wars, iss stupid but it happens anyway...

well. i live on a hideous little scrap of land between hackney and tottenham called stonebridge road, i would love to see an american take a little amble around here and tell me its not a slum. every day i walk past drug dealers, derelict buildings, prostitutes, gangsters (packing as much "heat" as any new york gangster), tramps, the whole works.
London has in itself a large abundance of "ghettos" but we also have this joyous invention called "council housing" placed pretty much everywhere in every city, kind of similar to your "projects" except not full of black people. full of people of every race but all united by one thing - the fact that they have no money for food. we are far and away the crime capital of europe and have a considerably higher violent crime rate than you nonces over in the states. makes me laugh, akala said it best i think "for me it's hard to believe how we're perceived overseas its believed we sip teas and speak like the queen...n*gga please, these streets will suck your blood like a leach." 100% true, whether you're fighting through camera men outside baby p's house (as i did) to get to work, or stepping over the body of another teen gangster plugged outside your very front door (again as i did) or queuing for the dole (yet again...) or helping a young rape victim (yep, i'm a hero) you know full well you're in a green and pleasant land, covered in a thick white inhalable blanket. this country is fucked like no other, you know why? it's because we're all children of the slum. our country had the worst slums the world has ever seen, africa? HA, try canary wharf, brooklyn? HA, try whitechapel. everybody more or less is descended from that. my grandma was born in a squat at the back of a meat factory and lived there until the 60s when the slum clearance began (she was moved into a council estate), this country is full of "haves" and "have nots" and that is where the problem lies, everybody wants everyone elses stuff, nobody wants to do any work and when you do its a shit job and most of your money gets jacked by the government or the gangs.

n15 all day.

as depicted in adulthood, london has its rough areas and the american makes a point that new york is dangerous, but the difference is in america, a guy may pull a gun on what he thinks is an unexpecting victim when actually the victim turns round and blows a hole in his head. in england you may not have noticed but you can't carry guns around unless your in the army or armed police. and if you say "you can't have a gun in new york", then how come you have them in the state of texas, have a consistent law for all. no wonder america is corrupt, there are different laws for different people. Liverpool clearly pips both london and new york to the post. i live in what was voted as "the safest place in england", which is in hampshire. the army barracks in the city are packed full of 16-18 year old lads from liverpool, who join the army to escape guns and white powder. clearly if the culprits themselves are running away that explains something.
