Sorry for the late post I haven't had access to my laptop for some time and even now I'm short on free time. I'm surprised by the amount of responses I've been getting on my blog lately. More than 1 response every 3 weeks is a BIG DEAL! I've been doing this for a while now and I don't advertise my page, I don't even talk about it to my friends. Its just a fun project that I work on when I have time and lately its become something of a journal for all the cool things I happen across that I am interested in. Nike has always amazed me at how great they are at marketing. After they teamed up with foot locker in may this year to build the new House of Hoops branded stores, you just get the feeling that nike really can sell ANYTHING. Most nike commercials usually have athletes as their selling points. This ad doesn't have a single athlete in it, but still manages to inspire.

I liked the commercial so much that I had to do some more research on the store. From the video the store doesn't look all that sweet, which reminds you of how much priority Nike places on marketing creativity. Even though I'm not falling out of my seat I still like the look of the store, plus I like the Dipset touch. DIP DIP...

I don't wanna sound like a ignorant american, but does england even have any ghettoes? If not does it at least have communities where a lot of poor people live in parts of london? I just watched the 'kidulthood' movie. I have wanted to watch it for some time but never had the chance. After watching the movie and reading some of the hilarious responses on the youtube page (yeah I watched it on youtube, can't find the movie at the local blockbuster), I had to comment myself, so here goes. Londoners can not FUCK with New yorkers or any other american cities toughest hoods. I'm not going to get into it too much, but the fact is our streets are more violent because our country is more corrupt. The idea that teens are carrying glocks and baseball bats just so they can cause trouble and brag that they run with a rough clique is the dumbest shit I've ever heard. So I shake my head to you 16 year old black kids who come fom good homes but want to imitate the lifestyle you see on TV, grow the fuck up.

I posted some time ago about the history of the cocaine epidemic(the Rick Ross story) during the Reagan era. I have also studied the history of big gangs such as the bloods and crips of Los Angeles. What I have come to find out that no matter where you go in the world most of the gangs, especially the ones involving the black youth tend to be caused by the government and or the greed for money. The government supplies the guns so that the poor kill themselves and or help the government reach a certain goal such as raising money for a war or votes. Of course poverty also goes hand in hand many times with crime but it seems that no matter where you go in this world, whether to London, NYC, Jamaica, or Darfur black teens are fighting wars because of two things government and money. What makes this video stand out for me though is that I find it interesting that teens in London want to live the gangsta lifestyle they see on TV. Imitating their favorite rappers by wearing Yankee fitteds even though they may never watch a Yankee game their whole life. If in fact these teens are picking up guns to act cool and tough, then I say to them STOP THAT SHIT OUT. In my opinion Gangs are products of poverty and lack of a good family oriented community. If these kids have neither problems do not try to create one.

When I was growing up I was a big comic book reader. Even though most of the time I could barely afford new comics. I read almost all most new comics by borrowing them from the local library. But if you know anything about comics you know of the horrendous movies that have tried to bring them to life in the past. Batman begins and Superman returns are two movies that in my opinion show the world what a good comic book movie should be (Xmen2 was good too, but I am originally a DC comics fanboy so eh). Having said that I will now stress how cool I thought Batman begins was. IT WAS AWESOME! Christian bale kicks ass as Bruce Wayne and is the best actor to don the bat suit since ... ever. Plus he's also the face you see to your right every time you visit my EBBS/Evilvader blog. Anyway as far as I know the next movie will star batman's greatest nemesis THE JOKER, and so far I am certain this joker wouldn't be as cheesy as the previous jokers we've seen.

HALO 3 comes out September 25th and the world will never be the same. Actually I'm not a really big fan of the game but being an american college student you can't help but notice the impact a game like this has on people my age. Apparently the game is worth its weight in gold since IGN.com instantly gave it a 9.5 rating out of 10. I mean the game already has 1.5 million preorders or more before it has even come out so here's to the success of the XBOX 360 and to the death of the PS3, cheers.

Oh and the commercial is kickass, of course its not the real one.

Graduation!

A lot of people claim that hip hop is dead, and in some senses it is, or rather it has been for some time now. This brings to mind the statement 50 just made recently about people not wanting intellectual type albums from the Nas/Jay-Z/Tupac/Biggie era Interesting Link, it begs the question of where hip hop will be 10 years from now. Graduation is what hiphop needs right now. period. Every song and every verse are put together in such way that you can't help but to praise Kanye for putting so much work in. The album sounds better the second, third, fourth time you listen to it, and that is what a classic album is supposed to be. I'm not the type to go out and buy an album because most times I can just download them for free, but for Kan's new release I felt a need to show some support. If we fans don't buy these albums from artists we appreciate who will? The bottom line is Kanye's graduation album is a success in every way a 2007 hip hop album can be, and more.

I think its ludicrous that this is still going on, I've been hearing from friends that kevin was now a pheonix sun, this news just throws my whole day off.

If kevin gets signed to the Lakers that would be SOOOOOO AWESOME though.

Future of RPGs on 360

I have an appreciation for japanese artwork in different forms, may it be manga books, anime movies, or toys. But one thing that I have enjoyed over all of them are Japanese RPG games such as the final fantasy series and such. I love the stories told through this medium and the emotion they bring out of the player, so being a new xbox fan I have starved for a long time for a good RPG, that will all end at the end of the year. Even if you don't keep up with video games, you should at least know that by the end of the year 2007 halo 3 is coming out and so is GTA IV, but thats not all. Final fantasy creator and the Dragon ball series creator are coming together to release a english version of their smash game Blue Dragon game to north america, so I'm excited. Jay being exposed

Calvin Klein Bacote, an OG from Brooklyn did an interview with the Drama king Kay Slay and Angie Martinez about Jay-Z's past life and how he was less of a gangsta turned rapper and more of a rapper living out the life of a real gangsta (in this case being that of the young calvin). Jay even referenced calvin in the song allure off the black album, when he raps "I never felt more alive/ Than ridin' shotgun in Klein's green five." Calvin talks about how jay ignored him once he was released from a 14 year bid in jail, and has done the same financially to the people around him (such as dame dash, ta-ta, beanie, Jaz-O etc), calvin claims he's just here to let people know who the real Jay-Z is. Streets is Watching

Nowadays jays rhymes are more about the things money can buy and the lifestyle he enjoys, but earlier in his career you could hear how hungry he was for the paper and how relentless he was as a lyricist. Streets is watching off his in my lifetime vol 1 album (which I liked better than the first) is definetely a classic track.

NBA 2k7

For those that do not have an Xbox maybe you should just skip this post all together but for those who own an xbox and having played or own and played NBA 2k7 you know how addicting this game can be. It has been in my xbox for as much time as all my other 9 games combined, maybe even more. The point is I like the game, and I have dedicated myself to playing the online mode until I become the #1 ranked player in the world. As of now I'm the 25th best (out of like 3000+ to put it in persepective). I just finished a 10-0 run, feeling unstoppable, so I challenged a rank 7 player and got demolished. I used the Cleveland Cavs and got my ass whooped by the Lakers. At the end of the game I was only down 10 points but this rank 7 guy played like a freaking machine, not making one mistake, and totally leaving me in awe of how focused a person can be playing a videogame. I mean, I wouldn't even be typing this post if not for how good this dude was... Anyway I gotta get better, so If I do break the top 10 I'll keep you posted.

Oh and If you play on xbox live and wanna challenge me let me know what games you have, and get ready to get BEAT, just kidding, but not really.

This guy is on top of the world and to think that he will not be releasing his new album this year just shows how cocky he is about his new found standing as one of the most admired rappers (if not the best in the game) out right now. I like the concert vid shown above I even like the mixing in of tracks off his albums, but the freestyle at the end makes the whole vid worth it. Lil wayne is on fire.

DOA: How bad could it be?

The movie Dead or Alive has been out for some time now and I'm just now considering giving it a looksee, but after reading the reviews this movies has got even the positive reviews don't inspire. What could be bad about seeing a bunch of chicks in string bikinis fighting (hopefully in a suggestive manner) for 87 minutes or so. I don't know one person personally who has seen the movie but how bad could the movie really be...

Just recently ferrari released some conceptual art work on the possible V6 dino of the future. The new dino would be aimed at the american public who seem to appreciate the brand and its creations more than any other part of the world. Its supposed to stay in the $100,000 range upon release so it can compete with cars like the porsche 911 carrera S and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
